About the project
100% of profits are being donated to Change the Record
We decided to create this fundraiser project in the wake of George Floyd's murder and the Black Lives Matter protests that spread around the world soon after. It has become clear that police everywhere have been abusing their power and upholding state-sanctioned white supremacy.
Systemic racism and violence towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
people is deeply embedded in Australia. As a small way of paying rent for
living on stolen land, we are fundraising for Change the Record. This
Aboriginal-led coalition is doing the hard work of dismantling this unjust
system and liberating and uplifting Indigenous people.
"Our mission is to end the incarceration of, and family violence against,
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
437 Aboriginal people have died in police or prison cells, or after
interactions with police. This is for two reasons - discriminatory policies and
discriminatory policing. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are 34
times more likely to be hospitalised as a result of family violence, and
children are being taken away from their families at heartbreaking rates.
But it doesn't have to be this way. We can change the record."
